Avoiding
the Pumpkin Patch
Although
we live close to the DFW metropolitan area the little town where we
live is in a still very countrified area. Usually the roads around us
are fairly quiet and not much traffic. That changes at this time of
the year because in a few places close to where we have to drive to
get to the stores, we pass a couple of pumpkin patches. These events
are highly publicized and are very popular. The crowds start forming
especially at the weekends .
The
fields have masses of brightly colored pumpkins covering the fields ,
the hay bales are set up for the kids to jump on and the annual visit
begins.
So at the traffic lights where the fields are, the lines get
longer and longer and you wait to cross behind cars with mums with
3 or 4 kids bouncing about as they go to visit. Whether they go to
buy pumpkins or to take photos or just to have fun I don't know but
it seems a lovely thing to do. They all seem to have a great time.
Makes
you wish your grand kids were young again.
