A stop-over in Fullerton

A stop-over in Fullerton
The beautiful hibiscus in the garden
On our way home from Monterey by train we had to change trains in LA which gave us a chance to see our friend Karen in Fullerton . We knew we would not have much time to chat as we would arrive late in the evening and have to leave the following afternoon to rejoin the train to Fort Worth.
Little Kandie painting by Shirley

Karen has a new little dog, a cute little chiweenie ( chihuahua/dachshund mix) called Kandie who she has recently adopted from a rescue group. The little 5lb dog is now in her element . She sleeps on 3 cushions piled high or on the bed next to Karen. She has her own specially designed doggy yard and doggy door. She has lots of love and attention and a walk every day. Karen on the other hand has unlimited love and affection and pleasure from her new best friend.

Valencia Oranges

Karen has only a small yard but it is really filled with all kinds of lovely plants and this being in California, you know they grow and bloom so beautifully. Mike took some lovely photos . I will need to get the paints out to paint the lovely hibiscus. It was also a delight to see the oranges growing on an orange tree and Karen told us these were Valencia oranges and were very sweet. They grow well in this part of the country and once this part of California was home to many orange groves.

Always a delight to see an old friend and soon after a lovely lunch we were on our way back to the train to finish our journey home.
