The Sanctuary by Ted Dekker

The Sanctuary by Ted Dekker

This is a book that is an intense thriller written by a well known author who writes very unusual , complicated thrillers.
The Sanctuary is the name of a prison that is one of a kind and is using a new way of rehabilitating prisoners. The warden thinks of himself as GOD and he makes the rules and uses torture to emphasize the rules he makes.
Into this setting comes a reformed priest who has pled a plea of non violence after he had  murdered many pedophiles who he saw as sinners .He is sent to this prison. His girl friend,  who he loves and depends on him, receives threats from outside the prison .These are linked in someway to what happens inside the prison and the book involves a intricate tale of intrigue and mystery . It is very unbelievable in some parts. I also found it sadistic and not pleasant to read.

It does keep you hooked on reading it once you get started and I did finish the book but really not sure why. Not an enjoyable story to read. Obviously the author was trying to define the morals of violence and good and evil in this book and also to write a mystery.
